Ark
Today also we are gonna to continue our trip to historical monuments and buildings . We visited Ark of Bukhara.
The arch was originally built in the 1st century BC. Before the Arab invasion, the city governors - Bukhorkhudots lived in the arch. It was rebuilt and strengthened with walls and turrets during the Somonides period (IX-X centuries). During the Karakhanid era (XI-XII centuries) and during the Mongol invasion (XIII century), the arch was destroyed several times.
At one time, the Arch towering over Registan Square was a symbol of greatness, power and invincibility. On one of the walls of the arch hangs a large leather whip, which was once a symbol of power in the Bukhara Emirate.
